Wapda in Women Soccer quarters
LAHORE: Former national champions, Wapda forced their way into the quarter-finals of the sixth National Women Football Championship defeating Balochistan 3-0 in a replay match on Friday at Islamabads Jinnah Stadium. The scheduled match between two was declared abandoned by technical officials on Thursday following heavy rain that made pitch unplayable in the second half after Wapda led 1-0 at interval. That goal was scored by skilful player Nadia Bhatti who failed to find the net in the replay as their other three goal scorers were Naila Rani (18th min), Shabana Kausar (26th min) and Azra Nasir (58th min). With this success Wapda joined Islamabad, Diya FC, Frontier College Peshawar in the quarter-finals line up. Wapda, under coach Qasim Raza and skipper Anila Khan, dominated the proceeding right from the kick off and their keeper Shumaila Sattar was too smart and foiled all the efforts of their opponents.
